Straight off, II unquestionably sees a much heavier side of Colt48. This latest effort shows a more clear-cut direction and path for the band, complete with an impressive display of lyrical growth and musical gravity. II is not one-dimensional by any means; rather, it explores many different sounds and styles likened to its aforementioned genre.
Deadset Society is poised to become Canada’s hottest property if the band’s debut, [Destroy + Rebuild], is anything to go by. A very promising start for a band you really want to believe in!
Atlas describes itself as a guitar/keyboard-driven melodic rock band that combines elements of rock, pop, progressive rock, and jazz. Normally that’s a lot for any band to take on; hinting that the members might not have found a comfortable nor identifiable musical niche. Atlas, however, surprisingly pulls it off with amazing results.
For those of you who are connoisseurs of Southern Rock, does The Symphony of Rock have a treat for you! There is a band in Louisiana that is making some big noise north of the Big Easy called Louisiana Swamp Donky. (LSD…tongue-in-cheek? Ain’t asking!)
Welsh alternative rock band Ortario are quickly establishing themselves as one of the best new rock bands in the UK. Following up on their first two singles released in 2016, “Forte” and “All Outta Money” – both of which are very good – they dropped their debut EP A Place Called Home in late January, and it’s outstanding.
Put it to you this way…when you have complete strangers walking by your open window and shouting, “WHO IS THAT?!” in amazement, you know you have a band that is destined to be signed to a major label. It’s that simple.
