ABOUT: Blue Helix is an independent Alternative Rock band based out of Washington State/Sao Paulo and formed in 2008. Following the hallowed footsteps of the 90’s movement, their music is a perfect blend of melodic rock and powerful heavy grunge, on the cutting edge of modern rock with a uniquely potent blend of the core genre and its many sub-genres. Blue Helix has won multiple video awards for their release of “Aliens” and were the winners of the 2015 Puget Sound Battle of the Bands and recently won a competition in Brazil sponsored by 89.1 A Radio Rock. Upon the release of their newest album, Anti-Social Butterfly, Blue Helix is planning an early 2018 tour to Brazil. Thriving on the energies and individual personalities of each member, Blue Helix reigns as a tribute both to its members’ lives and to their vision.
What would you say that your band has to offer that is different from what is out there?
We blend many different styles of Rock. From Hard Rock to melodic Grunge, we blend acoustic guitars, violin, and other unique sounds to give our music a little more color. Our vocalist, Sami, also uses a dual microphone technique. We strive to connect with people of all ages, not only in our music, but our live performance.
What would you say is the essence behind your band?
Making sure everything we do is genuine to who we are as people.

How do you compete in today’s market?
You do the best you can by releasing material you can stand behind. Look, we are a little fish in an ocean of bigger fish. The industry has changed a lot in the last 10 years. We are happy that we are able to put out pro albums without a label backing us. Today’s industry allows you to express your art anywhere and everywhere. The issue is getting the ears and eyeballs on you. The times of bands making lots of money doing what they love is few and far between.
Describe your music. What do you want it to convey?
We write melodic and powerful sounding songs. We blend multiple different genres of rock music. From Hard Rock to Acoustic Rock, we are able to find a balance in what we do. Our goal is to write songs that convey hope in a world filled with challenges and disappointments. We write about pain, anger, frustration, self-doubt, love, and a desire to achieve our dreams. We like to think people can relate to those things.
Define some of the goals for the band.
We are going to tour our favorite place in the world, Brazil, in early 2018. We are very excited to do this, because it will be the first time we have gone their as a four-piece.
Our goal this year is to finish our new EP and release our new Music Video for our single, “Anti-Social Butterfly.”
