Briefly Speaking...

The Symphony of Rock wants YOU to stand up and be counted!

Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of the Top 100 metal albums upset many of us. It’s still gnawing at me and I just cannot let it pass. So, I am calling on all of my metal brothers and sisters to submit his or her list of the top 10 to 25 metal albums of all time! The Symphony of Rock will create a true metal list, but we need your help!

While compiling your list, consider:

Why each disk should be a part of your list?

  • Is each disk truly a part of the metal genre? If a disk is actually punk, alternative, hard rock, desert rock, industrial or another genre with a couple of metallic tracks, please exclude it.
  • What impact has each of your choices had on your life?
  • What influence has each selection had on other artists? The metal genre itself?
  • Carefully, consider the placement of each disk on your list. Does a Korn release really outrank Metallica’s debut?
  • Include any comments you might have about your list or specific disks on your list.

Submit your list to THE SYMPHONY OF ROCK FACEBOOK PAGE or my Facebook page (VINNY CECOLINI) by July 31st. The Symphony of Rock will tally your lists (and comments) and post our true list in early August. In the meantime, keep your eye on the site for any updates www.thesymphonyofrock.com!

  1. I was not happy with that list either. But much as I hate to admit it, I only recently became a fan of heavy metal, so am rather ignorant of the history of that genre to be able to come up with a reasonable list of the 10 best metal albums.
