ABOUT: The band was put together during the summer of 2016 by James Thorley (Keys/Percussion) after completion of five demos that were in the Melodic Rock/AOR genre. Thorley then approached Howie Little (Guitars) and Christian Redfearn (Bass) about joining the project and turning it into a fleshed out band. In early 2017, the band (now called Atlas) brought on Craig Wells (Vocals) to complete the lineup. Atlas is currently recording its debut EP and has recently released the first track from the sessions, “Cross the Line.”
CRAIG WELLS
What would you say that your band has to offer that is different from what is out there?
I like to think we offer a tasteful blend of musicianship and song writing. Most of the songs were written at a piano with melody being the key point; we added the jazzy/progressive instrumentation sections as the icing on the cake/nod to our influences.
CHRISTIAN REDFEARN
What would you say is the essence behind your band?
It’s hard to pinpoint, but I would say the blend of keyboards and guitars is certainly a constant driving factor throughout the EP. In that regard, I would classify it as the essence of our sound.
JAMES THORLEY
How do you compete in today’s market?
It’s all still a steep learning curve for us. While we all have different levels of experience in the industry, we’re fairly new as a band. As a result, we’ll network to our intended market while we finish up the EP (that being the Melodic Rock scene) and then push hard with promotion, expect videos for a couple of the tracks!
HOWIE LITTLE
Describe your music. What do you want it to convey?
It can be best described as guitar/keyboard-driven music with powerful vocals & layered harmonies; it combines the best elements of hard rock, pop, progressive rock and jazz.
Define some of the goals for the band.
The current goal is to finish the EP and get it to sound the best it can. We want to build up a dedicated fanbase, the type of people who have a shared interest in that sort of music. If there’s enough interest after the EP is out, we’d like to do some live shows and obviously follow up the EP with more music.
Anything else you would like to add?
Be sure to check out ‘Cross the line’ on our sound cloud page. It’s a Toto/Journey inspired rocker with a slightly more modern edge, and don’t forget to give us a like us on Facebook.
